DFW escape rooms ranked: I've done 20+ and here are the best

My friend group is obsessed with escape rooms. We've done over 20 across DFW. Here's the ranking.

Tier 1 — Best in DFW:

  • Escape Expert (Plano) — most immersive sets in DFW. "The Asylum" room is genuinely scary. $30/person. Source: escapeexpert.com
  • Riddle Room (Frisco/McKinney) — creative puzzles, great customer service. $28-35/person. Source: riddleroom.com
  • Dark Hour Haunted House (Plano) — not technically an escape room but their seasonal escape experiences are intense. Source: darkhourhauntedhouse.com

Tier 2 — Very good:

  • PanIQ Room (Dallas) — multiple themed rooms, polished production. $30-35/person. Source: paniqroom.com
  • Trapped! (Uptown Dallas) — convenient location, well-designed rooms. $30/person. Source: trapped.com
  • Amazing Escape Room (multiple) — consistent quality. Good for beginners. $28-33/person.

Tier 3 — Good for groups:

  • 60 Out (Dallas) — solid puzzles, good for team building. $30/person.
  • Escape the Room (downtown Dallas) — well-known chain, decent rooms.

Pro tips:

  • 4-6 people is the sweet spot. Fewer = harder, more = chaotic.
  • Book weeknight slots. Cheaper and you won't be merged with strangers.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for hints. The game masters want you to have fun.
  • Go in with a strategy: one person on locks, one on searching, one on puzzles, one on organizing clues.

Sources:

  • Venue websites for pricing
  • Google Reviews (I verified 4.5+ stars for Tier 1 and 2)

Riddle Room in Frisco is my top pick. The puzzles are creative and the staff actually cares about the experience.

Escape Expert in Plano is legit. The Asylum room had our group of 5 screaming. We did NOT escape.
