Born and raised in Oak Cliff. Know this city inside and out.
Fire Station 4 near Bayside was a smart investment. Before it was built, response times to the south side of the lake were too long. Geography matters when you're dealing with medical emergencies.
Interesting development. Curious how this plays out for Dallas-Fort Worth.
Rowlett PD community liaison officer at the HOA meeting last month specifically warned about this pattern. They said to report every single instance because they use the reports to map the activity and predict where break-ins might happen.
comparing yourself to others is the #1 killer of new martial artists. the person who started 6 months before you seems like a god. the person who started 6 months after you seems hopeless. its all relative. compare yourself to YOU from last month. thats the only metric that matters
Real fans know the deal. Let's hear the takes.
Construction workers eating at a taco truck is the only review that matters. If the guys who are outside working all day choose to spend their lunch money there, the food is good. Simple as that.
This will impact property taxes and city services. Follow closely.
The Rowlett Public Library summer reading program is the best free resource in the city. My kids look forward to it every year. The librarians are wonderful and the prizes for meeting reading goals keep kids motivated.
This is exactly why I love this platform. Real DFW conversations.
The late-night food thing is real. We drove to Rockwall for dinner at 9:30 last Friday because everything on Main Street was already closed. This is the one area where Rowlett needs to improve.
The answer changes depending on which part of Dallas-Fort Worth you're in.
Does anyone know if there's an update on this? Asking for my neighborhood.
This is going to be a heated thread and I'm here for every second of it.
This hits different if you've been in DFW for 10+ years.
Interesting timing on this. I was just talking about it with my neighbors.
finding a good manager in DFW boxing is the hardest part. there are a few legit ones but there are also sharks who will take 33% of your purse and do nothing for you. get references from other fighters before signing anything
wrestling 2x/week absolutely destroyed my body for the first month. the pace is so much more intense than BJJ. but after my body adapted my cardio and toughness went through the roof

Whatever you do, avoid LawnStarz. They did my yard for two months, raised the price by $15 without notice, and when I pushed back they ghosted. Total waste of time.
Don't forget the trail connection being built from Community Park to the Rowlett Creek Greenbelt. That's going to be a great addition for runners and cyclists. Should be done by fall.
heavy bag is the most underrated training tool. people want the excitement of sparring and pad work but the bag is where you build the foundation. 500 kicks on the bag translates to confidence in sparring because your body knows the technique
The apartment complex on 66 had a LOT of opposition at the public hearing. Traffic on 66 east of Dalrock is already heavy. Adding 280+ units with only one entrance/exit onto 66 is going to be rough.
Moved here last month and this is incredibly helpful. Thank you.
Real talk right here. No sugarcoating.

Walmart pickup has changed my life as a mom of 3. I order at 10pm, pull into the parking spot at 8am, and they load my trunk. No dragging kids through the store. Free with Walmart+.
