D3 wrestling is underrated. you get a full college experience, you compete at a high level, and you dont destroy your body for a scholarship that might get revoked if you get injured. more DFW families should consider D3

Can someone from the north side weigh in? Curious if it's the same up there.

The DART station is still Rowlett's most underappreciated asset. Name another lakeside city in DFW with a light rail connection to downtown Dallas. You can't. That's a unique combination.

A brewery on Main Street in Rowlett would print money. The foot traffic from the DART station, the community events, the local pride — it would be a community anchor. Someone please do this.

Please be a medical complex. The nearest urgent care to this part of Rowlett is the CareNow on Lakeview and it is always packed. We need more healthcare options.

I had the free sprinkler audit done last spring. They found two broken heads and one zone that was overspraying onto the sidewalk. Fixed it all for $60 in parts and my water bill dropped $25/month in summer. Highly recommend.

I was a Rowlett PD officer that night. We were running from house to house in the dark with flashlights looking for survivors. The devastation was incomprehensible. Entire streets where every single house was destroyed. I have never seen anything like it.

sign up for both gi and nogi in your first tournament. more matches means more experience and you already paid for the day. at NAGA you can do both for a small additional fee

DO NOT do IBJJF as your first tournament. the rules are strict, the refs are inconsistent, the cost is high, and the atmosphere is intense. save that for blue belt when you have competition experience

Pro Line Auto in Rockwall has been our shop for three years. They have never once tried to upsell us. They show you the parts, explain what is needed, and give you an honest estimate. Front brakes there were about $180 in labor.

Whistle Express unlimited plan is the best $25/month I spend. I go through 3-4 times a week because the oak pollen covers my car every single night in spring.

The TIF district is the part that worries me as a taxpayer. If Sapphire Bay underperforms, Rowlett residents are on the hook for the infrastructure costs. The city council needs to be transparent about the financial risk.

just start. the worst thing you can do is spend 6 months researching which martial art to try while sitting on your couch. pick one, walk in, do a free class. you can always switch later. the hardest step is the first one through the door

The school zone thing is critical. Our house is technically in Rowlett but the school boundary puts us in a Garland ISD campus. We did not check before buying and had to apply for an in-district transfer. Check the address before you close.

The Rowlett Moms Buy/Sell group has saved me hundreds on baby gear. Got a Graco stroller and crib set for $120 that was $450 new. Both in perfect condition.

i started BJJ at 31 in worse shape than you described. could barely do 10 pushups. the first month was rough but your body adapts fast when you are doing something fun. i lost 30lbs in my first 6 months without changing my diet because i was training 3-4x per week and actually enjoying it

Fire Station 4 near Bayside was a smart investment. Before it was built, response times to the south side of the lake were too long. Geography matters when you're dealing with medical emergencies.

Rowlett PD community liaison officer at the HOA meeting last month specifically warned about this pattern. They said to report every single instance because they use the reports to map the activity and predict where break-ins might happen.

comparing yourself to others is the #1 killer of new martial artists. the person who started 6 months before you seems like a god. the person who started 6 months after you seems hopeless. its all relative. compare yourself to YOU from last month. thats the only metric that matters

Real fans know the deal. Let's hear the takes.

Construction workers eating at a taco truck is the only review that matters. If the guys who are outside working all day choose to spend their lunch money there, the food is good. Simple as that.
