Born and raised in Oak Cliff. Know this city inside and out.
I tried working from the Rowlett Public Library on Main St and it was honestly great. Free wifi, quiet study rooms, no purchase required. Not a coffee shop but worth mentioning for the work-from-home crowd.
Real talk right here. No sugarcoating.
The real cost of driving that nobody calculates: stress, car maintenance, insurance premium based on mileage. DART saves money you don't even think about.
i did crossfit for 3 years before trying a wrestling practice. crossfit did NOT prepare me. i was dying 20 minutes into wrestling practice and the high schoolers were laughing at me
Adding to this — check out the spot on Greenville Ave too. Underrated.
Great list but you missed the best one. The one on Belt Line is the real deal.
Springfield Park is the heart of Liberty Grove. Saturday mornings there are amazing — soccer games, families at the playground, people walking dogs on the trail. It's community.
The turbidity/clarity is my main complaint. You can't see your feet at waist depth. It's a muddy North Texas reservoir, not Lake Tahoe. Adjust expectations accordingly.
The medical office complex on Lakeview is a good sign. More healthcare close to home means fewer trips to Garland or Rockwall for routine stuff. Especially important for the growing senior population.
Important for Houston residents to be aware of this.
We moved back to Rowlett after rebuilding. Our new house has a safe room — reinforced concrete, rated for EF5. It cost $8,000 to add during construction. If you're building or renovating in Rowlett, add a safe room. You will never regret it.
Belal at 5 is correct and i hate it. the man is dominant but i would rather watch paint dry than sit through another 5 round Belal decision. respect the skill, reject the entertainment
The 2016 snapshot makes me emotional. I lost my house in the tornado. I remember standing in what used to be my living room and looking at the sky through where the roof had been. We rebuilt. We're still here. Rowlett is still here.
Paddle Point sunset bench is the real deal. I proposed to my wife there. She said the view was better than the ring. I choose to take that as a compliment.
Local politics affect your daily life more than national. Worth paying attention.
Sapphire Bay is either going to be the best thing to happen to Rowlett or the most overhyped. I am cautiously optimistic. The crystal lagoon concept is wild.
Adding this to my calendar. Thanks for the heads up.
Interesting timing on this. I was just talking about it with my neighbors.
Dr. Morrison in Rockwall did allergy shots for me for 3 years. I went from needing 3 medications to needing nothing. Allergy shots are a commitment but they actually fix the problem instead of masking it.
Lomachenko footwork compilation on youtube is required viewing. the way he creates angles that shouldnt exist by stepping at unusual times is artistry. and it all comes from thousands of hours of dance and footwork training as a kid
The fire trucks at the beginning with sirens and lights — my toddler screamed in excitement so loud the people around us were laughing. It's the purest joy you'll ever see.
Rowlett Animal Shelter is small and understaffed but the people there genuinely care. Go in person if you can. They recognized my dog from a description before I even showed a photo.
This is important for Austin residents to know about.
Real talk right here. No sugarcoating.
The no-wake zones near Waterview marina are poorly marked. I've had boats blasting through at full speed while I'm trying to dock. Be careful in that area, especially on holidays.
The answer changes depending on which part of Dallas-Fort Worth you're in.
