Born and raised in Oak Cliff. Know this city inside and out.
Local Rotary scholarships are the lowest-hanging fruit. Small applicant pool, good money. Ask your school counselor for the nearest Rotary club contact.
Browns fan in Dallas here. We moved from Cleveland for a reason. I still watch every Sunday at 12 PM and I still hate myself for it.
The "I miss mountains" thing is real. Texas is flat and there's no getting around it. But once you find YOUR spots — your coffee shop, your trail, your neighborhood — DFW starts to feel like yours.
Court record searches are free and public. I found 14 lawsuits against my prospective landlord before signing the lease. Nope.
Moved from Chicago to DFW alone at 31. Bumble BFF and a volleyball league saved me. Year one was rough though.
Pro tip: if they don't pay after judgment, the Abstract of Judgment puts a lien on any property they own in the county. They can't sell or refinance until they pay you.
BBB ratings are meaningless. A company can have an A+ rating and dozens of complaints. Look at the COMPLAINTS, not the letter grade.
Pulled my free annual reports and found a collections account I didn't owe. Disputed it, removed in 30 days, score jumped 35 points.
Korean noraebang > American karaoke bars. Having your own room changes everything. No waiting for your turn. No singing in front of 50 strangers.
The cap growing every year is the key insight. A $20M cap hit today is a $15M cap hit in purchasing power in 3 years. Smart GMs exploit that aggressively.
Eno's Bishop Arts location has the best vibe of any pizza spot in DFW. Patio + cold beer + wood-fired pizza.
Jokic looking unathletic while being the most dominant player in basketball is my favorite thing in sports. He proves that skill, IQ, and vision can beat raw athleticism.

Travel nursing in DFW is still paying $2,000-3,000/week for 13-week contracts in high-demand units. That's $104-156K annualized. Worth considering before committing to staff.
Forwarding address in writing is the step people skip. If you don't provide it, the 30-day clock doesn't start.
Deep Ellum parking is already stressful enough without scammers adding fake tickets to the mix. Report these to DPD.
The promotional split problem cost us 3-4 years of Crawford vs. Spence. By the time they fought, Spence was past his best. We deserved that fight in 2020, not 2023.
Dashcam recommendation is serious. Got rear-ended on 75 near Mockingbird, other driver lied to insurance. Dashcam footage ended the claim in my favor in 24 hours.
The VIN engraving events at DPD substations are great. Free, takes 10 minutes. They also do free bike registration.
Grapevine being the "Christmas Capital of Texas" is not an exaggeration. The entire town transforms. North Pole Express train is amazing for kids.
As a lifelong fan... I think you're right and I hate it.
Reata rooftop in Fort Worth with a Texas margarita at sunset. If you haven't done this, you haven't lived in DFW.
Fort Worth is geographically massive — 350 square miles. That's twice the size of Dallas proper. Patrol coverage is inherently thin.
DART should be free. Revenue from fares is a tiny fraction of the budget. Making it free would double ridership and reduce traffic. Fund it entirely through the sales tax that already supports it.
Happened to us in Plano. Amazon was actually helpful when we reported it. They traced it to a third-party seller who got banned.
