Been thinking about this all week. Good to see it getting traction here.
Rec sports league. Volleyball, kickball, softball. You see the same people every week, you grab beers after games, friendships happen naturally. That's how I built my entire friend group here.
Marfa is one of the weirdest towns in America in the best way. Art installations in the middle of nowhere, the Marfa lights, Prada Marfa. Combine it with Big Bend for a full trip.
Shared this with my neighborhood group chat. People need to know.
I just accept that summer electric bills are $300+ and budget accordingly. It's the Texas tax nobody mentions.
I stop every time I see one and I'm not sorry. The kolaches are solid, the bathrooms are spotless, and the beaver nuggets are crack.
Staying informed is the best thing we can do. Thanks for posting.
This is exactly why I love this platform. Real DFW conversations.
Amy Parks-Heath is incredible but the drive from Bayside is 15+ minutes. We moved to be closer and it was worth it for the school alone.
been at Peak Performance for 3 years and its exactly as described. the coaches know my name, they know my game, they adjust their instruction for my specific issues. i dropped in at a bigger gym in dallas once and felt like a number
My church potluck sweet tea made in a 5 gallon cooler with approximately 4 pounds of sugar. Nothing in a restaurant comes close.
the contract negotiation phase is what fans dont see. behind every delayed fight is an argument about money, card placement, and promotional obligations. its a business disguised as a sport
The bathroom thing alone justifies its existence. After driving 3 hours on a Texas highway I would pay $5 just for a clean bathroom. The food is a bonus.
Any southern home cooking restaurant. The ones with the big plastic pitchers on the table. That's where the real sweet tea lives.
$750 all-in near the DART station is a steal. Studio apartments in this area are asking $1,200-1,400 and they do not include a garage spot or a backyard.
Community Park splash pad in July is a lifesaver. Free, clean, well-maintained, and it exhausts the kids in about 45 minutes. Every parent in Rowlett owes the parks department a thank-you note for that splash pad.
The second Chick-fil-A cannot open fast enough. The existing one on Lakeview backs up traffic into the road during lunch. A second location on 66 will help.
Real fans know the deal. Let's hear the takes.
Big Bend is 100% worth it but you need at least 3-4 days. The drive is brutal but once you're there it feels like another planet. Camp at the Chisos Basin if you can get a spot.
The sunsets from Paddle Point are legitimately the best in DFW. I take my family there every other week in the summer. Bring a blanket and a cooler.
Check Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for home gym equipment. I built my garage gym for $800 total — rack, barbell, 300lbs of plates, and a bench. Pays for itself in 14 months vs a gym membership.
The companies forcing return-to-office are just trying to justify their lease costs. It's not about productivity and everyone knows it.
Crunch Fitness is a solid middle ground. More equipment than PF, actual free weight area, $25-30/month at most locations.
I'm remote and I love it but I'll be honest — the isolation is real. I go days without talking to another adult in person. Make sure you have a plan for that.
Buc-ee's is an experience, not a restaurant. You go for the vibes and the clean bathroom and you leave with $40 of beaver-branded impulse purchases.
YMCA is slept on. Some of them have surprisingly good weight rooms, plus pool, basketball courts, and sauna. $45/month for an adult membership at most locations.
