I chose Cedar Park for the 183 corridor. My office is in the Domain area and I'm door-to-door in 20 minutes. Round Rock via I-35 would be 40+.
The LGBTQ+ community built Montrose. The history matters. If you move here, respect what came before you.
Show up to HOA board meetings. Seriously. Most boards are 3-5 retired people with nothing better to do. You show up with 5 neighbors who are also sick of it and you can vote them out.
Round Rock ISD is the answer. Full stop. If you have school-age kids, the school district drives the decision. Everything else is secondary.
The OG Torchy's trailer on South Congress is where it all started. The food is the same as any other location but eating from the original trailer has a certain energy.
Unpopular opinion: corn tortilla breakfast tacos are superior. Flour gets soggy too fast if you're taking them to go.
Stop blaming people and start blaming policy. Austin city council approved every high-rise, every tech campus, every rezoning. They created this.
the alamo is sacred ground but yeah the visitor experience needs work
MD Anderson culture is intense. The research expectations are brutal but the mission keeps you going. Fighting cancer is meaningful work even on the worst days.
I worked on SoCo in 2008. The street was half empty, rents were cheap, and every shop was owned by someone who lived in the neighborhood. It's unrecognizable now.
The corporate takeover killed the original spirit. It went from discovering unknown bands in dive bars to watching a celebrity interview about their wellness brand.
That Texas boater education requirement catches people off guard. You MUST have the certificate to operate any motorized watercraft if you were born after September 1993. Do it online before your rental date or you're out of luck.
TDECU on a Saturday night for a ranked opponent is underrated. The student section has improved significantly since the Big 12 move.
I moved here from Phoenix. People told me dry heat vs humid heat is the same. Those people are liars. 100 in Phoenix is uncomfortable. 95 with 80% humidity in Houston is like breathing through a hot wet towel.
Hardy Toll Road is the move for North Houston commuters. Yes it costs money. Your sanity is worth $3.
Raising Cane's sweet tea doesn't get enough credit. It's dangerously good.
Pappasito's margaritas are dangerously strong. The Texas-size will ruin your afternoon. Ask me how I know.
Teotihuacan migas at 8 AM is the Saturday morning move. Walk in, sit down, don't even look at the menu. Migas plate with corn tortillas.
big red and barbacoa is the most SA thing that exists
Chorizo and egg with a little bit of potato mixed in. Squeeze of lime. That's the one.
the 1604 corridor is about to be the next frisco. calling it now
Mozart's on Lake Austin at sunset is one of the most beautiful spots in the city. The coffee is secondary to the view.
If the spot doesn't have a line of construction workers at 6am it's probably not that good. That's my filter.
The answer changes depending on which part of San Antonio you're in.
