PSA: Fake code enforcement officers going door-to-door in Plano demanding payment
Multiple Plano residents are reporting people in official-looking uniforms going door-to-door claiming to be city code enforcement. They say your property has violations and demand on-the-spot payment via Zelle or cash.
- Real code enforcement NEVER collects payment at the door
- Real notices come via mail on official city letterhead
- They are wearing generic polos, not official city uniforms with ID badges

Going through it right now. Instead of venting (I'll do that in therapy), I want to share the resources I've found in DFW for anyone else in this situation.

Amazon delivery scam: Packages you did not order showing up — here is why
If you've been receiving Amazon packages you didn't order, you're likely a target of a "brushing scam."

- Then they post fake verified reviews under your name

Moved here from the northeast and this culture shock is real
Three months in. Some observations from someone still adjusting.
- People genuinely say "sir" and "ma'am" and it's not sarcastic
- The speed limit says 65 but everyone is doing 80 and if you go 70 you're in the way
- Restaurants bring chips and salsa like it's bread and butter. I am not complaining.
How to read DFW crime maps and what the data actually means
Crime maps are powerful tools but most people misread them. Here's how to use them correctly.
- Crime type matters. A neighborhood with 50 property crimes and 0 violent crimes is very different from one with 20 violent crimes and 10 property crimes.
- Time of day matters. Entertainment districts show high crime at 1-3 AM. During normal hours they may be perfectly safe.
