Moved here from the northeast and this culture shock is real
Three months in. Some observations from someone still adjusting.
- People genuinely say "sir" and "ma'am" and it's not sarcastic
- The speed limit says 65 but everyone is doing 80 and if you go 70 you're in the way
- Restaurants bring chips and salsa like it's bread and butter. I am not complaining.

Neighborhood Watch programs are one of the oldest crime prevention tools. But do they work in 2026?
- A Campbell Collaboration meta-analysis found Neighborhood Watch programs reduce crime by 16% on average. Source: Campbell Systematic Reviews.

Doorbell camera footage: Your rights in Texas and when police can request it
Ring, Blink, Nest, and other doorbell cameras are everywhere in DFW. But who owns that footage and when can police access it?
- You own your footage. Period. It's your property, recorded from your property.
- Current policy: Police must contact you directly or obtain a warrant.
- If a crime occurred on or near your property and you want to help the investigation
American Airlines Fort Worth HQ: Is it worth working there for the flight benefits?
The #1 question people ask about AA: are the flight benefits worth it? After 2 years at Skyview campus in Fort Worth, here's my answer.

- Domestic standby: FREE. International standby: taxes only ($50-200)
- Confirmed tickets at massive discount (D2 and D3 passes)
