Whataburger loyalty is not a meme. People here will defend that place with their lives. I said it was mid ONE TIME and almost got run out of the office.
How big everything is. Nothing is close. Even the grocery store is a 15 minute drive. Coming from a walkable city this took serious adjustment.
Nostalgia is literally part of food culture. You're not making the point you think you're making. Also the spicy ketchup is elite.
The Houston food scene is seriously underrated. We don't get enough credit nationally.
I moved here from California and I think Whataburger is great but the cult following is disproportionate to the food. It's an A- burger with an S tier fanbase.
Allergies. Cedar fever in winter is not a joke. I never had allergies anywhere else. Moved here and now I want to die every December through February.
wrestling wins and its not close. in MMA the person who controls where the fight takes place wins the fight. a wrestler can decide to keep it standing OR take it down. a pure BJJ guy can only pull guard and pray

If the spot doesn't have a line of construction workers at 6am it's probably not that good. That's my filter.
Costco for bulk items, HEB for weekly stuff, and I still end up at Walmart at 10pm because I forgot something. Every single week.
Walmart grocery pickup changed my life. I don't go inside anymore. Order on the app, pull up, they load it. Under 5 minutes.
The Chili's Presidente margarita is the working class happy hour hero. $5, consistent, available every day. No shame in the Chili's game.
Unpopular opinion: corn tortilla breakfast tacos are superior. Flour gets soggy too fast if you're taking them to go.
Texas pride. I've never lived anywhere where people fly the state flag more than the US flag. And they're not being ironic about it.
The weather changing 40 degrees in one day. I've worn shorts and a jacket in the same 12 hour period. Multiple times.
the adrenaline dump warning is crucial and cannot be overstated. my first match at NAGA i literally blacked out for the first 30 seconds. i dont remember anything that happened. my coach said i pulled guard immediately and stared at the ceiling for 10 seconds. the adrenaline is REAL
Bacon egg and cheese on flour with green salsa. That's the order. Every time. Don't overthink it.

Running toilet tip is no joke. Our water bill was $40 higher than normal for two months before we figured out the flapper in the guest bathroom was bad. $5 part at Home Depot saved us $80.
The friendliness is real. People wave at strangers, hold doors, and make small talk in checkout lines. Moved from the northeast and this took months to get used to.
The driving thing never stops being true. I live half a mile from a CVS and still drive there. It's 105 outside man I'm not walking.
Did the Texas BBQ trail — hit 5 different BBQ spots across the state in 3 days. Gained 8 pounds. No regrets.
Just wait for your first blue norther. 80 degrees at lunch, 35 degrees by dinner. You will learn to check the weather every morning.
Skip the places with "Mexican Grill" in the name. Find the places with handwritten specials on the whiteboard. That's where the real food is.
