Interesting development. Curious how this plays out for Dallas-Fort Worth.
This has been on my mind too. Living in Houston gives you a different perspective on it.
The Here Comes The Bus app is mediocre but better than nothing. GPS tracking drops out sometimes and the ETA can be 10+ minutes off. But at least you can see if the bus has left the school yet.
This hits home for a lot of us. Literally.
The new complex on 66 is going to be interesting. More inventory = more competition = potentially lower rents across the board. Current tenants at other complexes should benefit from the pressure.
Been thinking about this all week. Good timing on the post.
The form-based code adoption was huge and most residents don't even know it happened. It means a developer can build mixed-use downtown without going through a lengthy rezoning process. That removes a major barrier.
wrestled all 4 years of high school and now train BJJ. the conditioning advantage is REAL. when other blue belts are gassed after 3 rounds im still fresh because nothing in BJJ approaches the intensity of wrestling practice
The Community Park dog park gets SO muddy after rain. Bring a towel for your car. I learned that the hard way when my golden retriever turned into a mud monster.
I negotiated mine down $150 by showing them comparable units on Zillow that were cheaper. They'd rather keep a paying tenant than turn the unit. It's worth trying.
Interested in the PS5. Can I come by Friday evening to pick it up? I live in Bayside so I am close.
The library museum pass program is INCREDIBLE and almost nobody knows about it. We got free admission to the Perot Museum for our family of 4 — that's an $80 value. Ask the librarian at the Rowlett Library front desk.
DFW MMA fans need to do a better job supporting local events. these promotions run on ticket sales and the fighters deserve packed houses. $40 for a night of live fights is the best deal in DFW entertainment
Shared this with my neighborhood group chat. People need to know.
I moved from southeast Dallas where the property crime rate was double this. Rowlett feels like a different planet. My wife walks the dog at 9 PM in Waterview without a second thought. Could not do that at our old place.
Adding to this — check out the spot on Greenville Ave too. Underrated.
1996 Rowlett hits me right in the nostalgia. I was a teenager. We'd hang out at the 7-Eleven on 66 because there was literally nothing else to do. The big excitement was when they built the movie theater in Garland and we didn't have to drive to Mesquite anymore.
Starbucks on Lakeview is a zoo. I went in at 8 AM thinking I would get a seat and every table was taken. The drive-through line was wrapped around to the street. Hard pass for remote work.
Through friends or through hobbies. Join a sports league, a gym, a climbing wall, something. The apps are a wasteland everywhere, not just here.
Following this thread. Want to hear more takes.
I met my girlfriend at a trivia night at a local brewery. Go to recurring social events where you see the same people week after week. That's how actual connections form.
We've been in Liberty Grove since 2003. Raised three kids here. Best decision we ever made. The neighborhood is safe, the neighbors are good people, and our kids had friends on every block. It's not fancy but it's home.
Different districts, different realities. Which part of Houston are you in?
The Flonase-two-weeks-early tip is the single best piece of allergy advice I've ever gotten. Started it in February this year and March was actually bearable for the first time in a decade.
add Main Street Boxing and MMA in Mansfield — they do open mat Saturday mornings. smaller crew but really good training partners and the coach is welcoming to visitors
