How to vet a wedding vendor you've never heard of
Dallas-Fort Worth has a long tail of small wedding vendors — many of them excellent, some of them inexperienced, a few of them problematic. Here''s the 20-minute due diligence that separates them.
- Texas Comptroller: search franchise tax status. "Forfeited" or "not in good standing" is a red flag.
- Google the business name + "complaint" / "scam" / "refund": see what comes up. Ignore drama; look for patterns.
- BBB profile (if any): how many complaints, were they resolved, when were recent ones?
Photographer delivered 200 photos, contract said 800. Do you get a refund?
Your contract specified "minimum 800 edited images." You received 212. The photographer is telling you that''s what she "felt was her best work." Is she right? No — and here is the breakdown.
- Specific performance: she edits and delivers the missing images. Works if the wedding was recent and raw files exist.
